äntrepÅ: Volume 1
The act of producing experimental work is less rehearsed and can find us more vulnerable as practitioners. The process asks us to explore, pointing us to new potential directions. The äntrepÅ project is concerned with new and evolving methods of design as driven by experimental thinking and practice. It is a call to designers to be self-expressive and exploratory, celebrating design for design’s sake, and stepping away from commercial representations of the field. In the inaugural issue, entitled Revelations, Spaeth Hill interviewed national and international designers to highlight the various ways they practice experimentation in their design process. Each volume is a limited-edition collector’s piece and consists of three parts—the interviews, original essays, and expressive artwork from contributing artists. Each spread in the volume is experimental and expressive and contains photography, typography, and imagery. Editorial features include critical writings on design and art, with historical, conceptual, and philosophical perspectives on topics related to each issue’s theme.

äntrepÅ is a studio project by the DC-based design practice Spaeth Hill.
