Episode 128: Decoding Luxury

This week, Jessica is joined by Avery Trufelman, creator of Articles of Interest, a podcast series about clothes from 99% Invisible. The recently concluded second season of Articles of Interest explores perfume, diamonds, and other symbols of luxury. The first season, Avery says, the goal was

to try to reach out to guys who think they weren’t interested in fashion, to be like, well what about plaid? What about blue jeans? Like these building blocks  of design that everyone can sort of relate to.

And every every once in a while someone will tweet at me like, “Hey, I’m a straight white man. And I thought I didn’t care about clothes at all. But you made me care.” And I was like, “Yes! Ding ding ding!”
