Merce Cunningham: The App

Launched in conjunction with Aperture Foundation’s sixtieth anniversary and the centennial of John Cage’s birth, Merce Cunningham: 65 Years is a monograph in the form of a dynamic and interactive iPad app. 

Created in collaboration with the Cunningham Dance Foundation (CDF), and made possible with major support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, the app is at once a primary resource and a rich comprehensive account of the artist’s life and career. In addition to film clips and interview footage, there are pages from Cunningham’s journals, drawings and essays, as well as additional material documenting his many collaborative projects with John Cage, Robert Rauschenberg and others.
