Michael R. Jackson
Playright. Composer. Lyricist. Trashtalker. That’s how Michael R. Jackson identifies himself on his website. We’ll see about the trash talking, but the rest is quite accurate. Jackson on the 2020 Pulitzer prize in drama for “A Strange Loop”. It’s a ground-breaking musical about the creative process of an artist writing a musical, and it deals with issues of identity, race, and sexuality. A strange loop, indeed.
On this episode, Debbie talks to Michael about his latest musical, which is about a gay man trying to write a musical. “It’s not autobiographical. I think of it as self-referential.”
