Thomas Kail
You could say that directing a musical is a form of design. And the materials are music, lyrics, and human performers. Thomas Kail has directed some of the most memorable musical theater experiences of our time. Including In the Heights, and Hamilton. His collaborations with Lin Manuel Miranda are now the stuff of legend, as are the shows he’s created on his own.
Debbie talks to Thomas about his career and about the joys of collaboration. “I learned, not only how much bigger the world was than my little group of friends, but there were people that were going to make things that I would never be able to make, and I welcomed that.”
